Many people usually think of a Rabbi as a person who carries out funerals or wedding ceremonies or the person who addresses the congregation during the high holidays. The perfect Rabbi is a torah scholar who leads the Jewish community and the members that he serves.
A rabbi is a teacher of torah. This title is derived from the Hebrew word rabi which means “My master”. The word “master” means the “great one”. Generally, rabbis aren’t required for the Jewish rituals. They are the authority and teacher when it comes to Jewish tradition matters, but not considered as expert ritual leaders.
